Suzanne Lowery Mims

Bio

I've been around awhile. Like most people in PR, my path led me to several different and fascinating positions. I am a communication professional with experience ranging from Capitol Hill to the board room.  My career includes positions as a US Senate press secretary, a federal agency public information officer, and as a senior executive in advertising and public relations agencies.  The best job I have ever had, however, is the one I have now: helping to launch careers.

Since 2012, I have taught public relations courses as a member of the adjunct faculty at George Mason University. I've also been lucky enough to serve for several years as the academic director for the Global Public Relations Study Abroad Program in London during winter break. In 2014, I created a special topics course, PR and Social Media. I'm proud to say that the course has been adopted now as a permanent offering in the Mason Course Catalog. In 2016, I authored the student handbook "PATHWAYS to Public Relations" to guide students' career preparation.

#MimsPR

Enough about me.

MimsPR is ...you, Mason Comm students as works in progress. Our classrooms are active, hands-on labs where you can tackle Real Work for Real Clients, practice using content creation tools, create engaging content, test messages, craft a full-blown PR plan, manage a social media campaign...and earn the skills you need to launch. That's what #MimsPR is all about.
